Bathurst Business Chamber is the peak body representing business in the Bathurst region.

The primary role of the Bathurst Business Chamber is to champion the growth of Bathurst.  Our membership includes businesses, large and small, from sole traders to national and multi-national enterprises.   Bathurst has a diverse economy and our membership reflects that diversity, with members from industries including agriculture, manufacturing, education and tourism.

The objects of the Chamber include:

  • to promote and protect the internal and external trade, commerce and manufactures, industries and tourism of Bathurst and surrounding regions
  • to promote support or oppose legislative or other measures affecting business in the region
  • to collect and circulate statistics and other information in relation to business in the region
  • to undertake education and training for the benefit of members
  • to do all things conducive to the extension of trade, commerce, transport, industries and tourism

Through a solid membership base, sound financial position and a strong reputation in the community, the Bathurst Business Chamber holds an important place in the promotion of the interests of business and business owners in the region.

The Bathurst Business Chamber takes a strong advocacy role particularly on issues affecting the regional economy in general.  We meet monthly with Bathurst Regional Council providing a forum for communication and to raise issues affecting members, and to ensure the views of the business community are made known.

Decisions at state and national levels impact on business in the region.  The Chamber will advocate on behalf of members, whether through submissions, meetings with local members of parliaments or Ministers.  In addition, the Chamber is keen to be involved in formulation of policy and ensure that the needs and issues of relevance to the Bathurst Business community and region are considered.

The Bathurst Business Chamber is an incorporated non-profit Association governed by a constitution.  The annual general meeting is held every year and a Board is elected at that time.  The Board then elects the President and other office-bearers for the year.

We do this by strongly advocating on behalf of members, engaging with government at all levels and keeping members informed of changes, developments and events that affect their businesses and the economy of the region generally. Each month we meet at one of our member businesses for our highly regarded Business After Hours events. Members learn about our host business, have an opportunity to discuss current issues of concern and network with other members.

The Chamber enjoys a solid financial base, with a varied membership encompassing small, medium and corporate business owners. The Bathurst Business Chamber is an alliance partner with the NSW Business Chamber which represents over 30,000 businesses in NSW, predominantly small to medium employers. This alliance has significantly widened the benefits that our members will enjoy under the new structure all for the one membership fee to the Bathurst Business Chamber.
